Wait on the Lord

December, the final month of the year is arriving soon.  As we look toward the new year, there is a natural tendency to take stock of where we have been and where we are going.

Are you feeling concern you have not accomplished everything you had planned to during the last year? Or are you wondering about the year ahead? Did life take unexpected turns? Maybe there are some hopes and dreams that have not yet taken form – or some that did not take the form you expected.

If there is something tugging at your heart to be completed, wait on the Lord.  Put your full attention on our mighty God, maker of  heaven and earth. Be in awe of the Lord alone and you will unlock an abundance of knowledge and wisdom. We recognize His gentle guidance when we are quiet and when we trust in Him.  The Lord is our strength in the day and our stability in times of trouble. Wait on the Lord.

The Lord knows all of our needs before we ask and His timing is perfect. Turn away from tokens and trinkets that have no value. Turn away from the empty idols of unnecessary fears,  doubts, and worries.

More than 150 times the phrase “do not fear” appears in the Bible. It is a commandment that appears often because it is so important in our relationship with God. Replace fear with faith, worry with worship.

Wait on the Lord, He is waiting to be gracious.

Scripture:

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. – Isaiah 30:18 (ESV)

O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you. Be our arm every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble. – Isaiah 33:2 (ESV)

You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you. -Nehemiah 9:6 (ESV)

Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? -Matthew 25-26 (ESV)

All things work to good according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28 (ESV)
